Visa for Hong Kong SAR of China and Macao SAR of China


VISA FOR HONG KONG SAR OF CHINA 

Introduction 

Nationals of most countries and territories, including New Zealand passport holder may visit or transit through Hong Kong SAR as visitor for a certain time of period without applying for visa before travel. You will need to be a genuine visitor to be eligible for the visa exemption. As a visitor, you can travel to Hong Kong SAR for sightseeing, conducting business activities, attending conference, participating cultural, arts or sport events, and visiting relatives and friends.  

New Zealand passport holders when travelling to Hong Kong SAR as a visitor may stay in Hong Kong SAR for up to 90 days without a visa. 

You need to apply for a visitor visa before you arrive in Hong Kong SAR if any of the following apply to you. 

·You are not from a country that doesn't need to apply.

·You intend to travel to Hong Kong SAR for establish or join in any business, study, employment, training, and commercial performance, you must then apply for a visa prior to travel.

·You intend to stay in Hong Kong SAR beyond the entitled visa free period. 

Where to apply  

1. You can contact and submit your application directly to the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region;

2. You can also submit your application to the Chinese diplomatic missions in New Zealand. Your application may be forwarded to the Hong Kong Immigration in Hong Kong SAR for processing.

VISA FOR MACAO SAR OF CHINA

Introduction

Nationals of 79 countries and territories, including New Zealand passport holder may visit Macao SAR for a certain time of period without applying for visa before travel. For the complete visa exemption countries or territories, please visit website of the Public Security Police Force of Macao Special Administrative Region (Please click here).

Travellers from non-visa exemption countries or territories require visas to enter MACAO SAR, and you can apply for the visa:

· from the Immigration counter at the port of entry in Macao SAR upon your arrival;

· to have a representative in Macao SAR to apply for "Authorization to Enter and Stay"in advance from the Immigration Department of Macao SAR;

·from Chinese diplomatic missions in New Zealand.

Starting from 1 July 2010, visitors from Bangladesh, Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and Vietnam are required to apply for a valid Macao "visa" in advance through a Chinese embassy or consulate instead of applying for an Entry Permit (so-called "visa-upon-arrival"). Nonetheless, the consular officials of these countries stationed on Chinese territory, the officials of various international organizations and their family can continue to apply for "visa-upon-arrival" with their passport, diplomatic/consular identity card or staff card.

Apply for MACAO SAR visa through Chinese Diplomatic Missions
Required documents:

1. Original passport and it must valid for at least more than 6 months with blank visa pages, and copy of the bio-data page of your passport.

2. A completed Macao SAR Visa Application FormPlease click hereand one passport-sized photoPlease check on the Macao Visa Application Form. The application form is available at the website of the Public Security Police Force of Macao Special Administrative Region.

3. Proof of your immigration status in New Zealand (permanent resident visa, resident visa, work visa and student visa, etc), if you have been granted an electronic visa (e-Visa), please print out the visa approval letter.

Please note that all applications submitted to the Chinese diplomatic missions will be forwarded to the Public Security Police Force of Macao SAR in Macao SAR for processing.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR APPLICATION

Apply In Person

1. Applicant or an authorised person can submit the application to the corresponding consular office of the Embassy or Consulate-General in New Zealand in accordance with consular district jurisdiction of the applicant's residential address in New Zealand. Application may be declined to process if received from areas outside consular district jurisdiction.

2. No appointment is required and please submit your application during office hours.

3. A pickup slip will be provided once your application has been accepted for processing and please keep the pickup slip in a safe place.

4. You must present your pickup slip at the time of collection and make the payment.

5. You can authorise someone else to collect your document, and the authorised person must also present the pickup slip at the time of collection and make the payment.

Apply Via Post or Courier

(additional service charge applies and please refer to Processing time, Fees and Charges)

1. Application can be submitted via post or courier to the corresponding consular office of the Embassy or Consulate-General in New Zealand in accordance with consular district jurisdiction of the applicant's residential address in New Zealand. It is not recommended to send your application by post.

3. Please include the following items when sending your application:
1) Prepaid, self-addressed courier package for returning your passport. We strongly recommend you using courier delivery service which provides tracking, such as NZ Post
and Courier Post.   

2) Please make sure that you have supplied a correct return delivery address, your full name, and contact phone numbers. We strongly advise you to make a record of your tracking number.

3) We only accept bank transfer online if you request your passport to be returned by post or courier. Pleaseenter all required information(particulars,code,reference) and correct amount when you make payment by Internet banking..

Returning Your Passport

If you wish your passport to be returned by courier after you have lodged your application in person to the Chinese diplomatic missions in New Zealand, you must also provide a prepaid self-addressed courier package for returning your passport, and the application fee can only be paid by bank transfer. There is no additional handling service fees apply.

Important Notes

1) You can authorize any person you trust to submit your application on your behalf. No authorization letter is required.

2) The expedited visa processing must be lodged in person and your passport must be collected in person from the office where you did the lodgement. We do not accept express (urgent) visa application submitted by post or courier.

3) There is no additional handling service fee when you have lodged your application in person to the Consular section but you have requested to return your passport by post or courier.

4) The Chinese diplomatic missions in New Zealand will not responsible for any loss, damage to your passports and documents, or delays caused by post or courier.

Remarks:

1. Applications which are required to be forwarded to the Immigration Department of Hong Kong SAR will take 6-8 weeks to process.

2. Applications which are required to be forwarded to the Immigration Department of  Macao SAR will take 10 working days to process.

3. Telecommunication fee must be paid at the time of submission and it is non-refundable.  

Handling service fee

An additional one-off $15 handling service fee applies to applications submitted via

post or courier. This fee is charged regardless of the number of application.

How to pay

The following payment methods are available on collection at the counter:

EFTPOS;

UnionPay (Credit card, Debit card, QuickPass);

Internet banking;

We do not accept payments made by cash, personal cheque, company cheque and direct credit. Credit card payments only available at the counter and we can not process payments by providing credit card numbers.
