Q1. How to apply for China visa?

A1. All applicants, including diplomats, and government officials are required to access and submit China Visa Application through China Online Visa Processing System. Please visit the website https://consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA/.


Q2. Can I apply for avisa at the Consular Office of China in Christchurch?

A2. Applicants must be New Zealand passport holders or hold a valid long-term New Zealand visa (resident, work, student, etc.) and should be residing in South Island regions. include Tasman, Nelson, Marlborough, West Coast, Canterbury, Otago, and Other Southland regions.


Q3. How long can I get a visa after submitting an application through the online visa system? When should I apply for a visa?

A3. After submitting the application online, you must pass the review before

you can make an appointment, and you can get a visa within 4 working days after acceptance.

In the review process, Applicants need to notice the status of the application. The application will be returned if you need to supplement documents or modify the form, please upload the documents following the feedback requirements.If apply for a single entry, the visa is valid for three months from the date ofissuance. Please arrange travel and visa applicationsubmission time reasonably.


Q4. The uploaded photos are always unqualified, and I have tried to upload many different passport photos.

A4. The uploaded photo should meet the following requirements: whitebackground, dark clothes, the forehead cannot be covered by hair, and the uploaded photo file must be larger than 40KB.


Q5. The passport data page cannot be uploaded. After clicking upload, the website does not respond.

A5. Please confirm that the uploaded materials are in JPG or JPEG image format.The visa system only accepts image format file uploads, and the uploaded file size must be greater than 40KB.


Q6. How long does it take for the visa application express service?

A6. Normally, the visa will be issued within 4 working days. The express service can beapproved within 3 working days. Express service starts from the day you submit your passport to Consulate General. Express service requires an extra fee and cannot be cancelled if it applies.


Q7. What supporting documents should I submit for my visa application?

A7. Please refer to the navigation bar to select a visa type and view a list of required documents.


Q8. How much does the visa fee?

A8. See Select Visa Fees in the navigation bar for information on visa fees.


Q9. For L visa, the invitation letter must be uploaded. What should I do if I do not have it?

A9. For L tourist visa, if you do not have an invitation letter issued by an individual in China, please provide an itinerary such as round-trip air ticket orders and hotel booking information.


Q10. I cannot upload supplementary documents online. After I click upload, the system does not respond. Can I not submit it online and bring it to the consulate at my appointment?

A10. Please confirm that the uploaded file is in JPG or JPEG image format, and only image format files are accepted for uploaded documents. All requireddocuments must be submitted online.


Q11. After submitting the application online, can I be notified by email to check the visa system when the status of the application changes

A11. No. The visa system does not send email notifications to applicants whentheir application status changes. Once you have submitted your visa application, please log into the website in time to check the status of your visa application feedback and follow the instructions to complete the form until you submit it again.


Q12. If I miss my appointment, can I reschedule?

A12. You can reschedule. Click Track My Application, find your application form number, and select making appointment.


Q13. Can someone behalf collect my passport when the visa is issued?

A13. Your passport should be picked up on the date indicated in the pick-up slip, and the visa fee must be paid by card at that time. It is recommended that youcollect it by yourself, butyou can designate someone else to collect it. The pick-up person must provide the original pick-up slip. Except for those who apply forreturn mail service.


Q14. Can I change my entry status after arriving in China? For example, can I switch from a tourist visa to a work visa?

A14. Once you arrive in China, in principle you cannot change your visa. If you want to work in China, you must obtain a valid "Foreign Experts Work Permit inChina" issued by the Bureau of Foreign Experts Affairs and submit a visa application at the local immigration bureau.


Q15. The expiry date on my visa sticker is September 30th, I will arrive in China on September 20th and leave on October 30th. Can I use this visa for myplanned travel?

A15.Yes. The validity period on the visa sticker indicates the date of issue and the date of expiry. Visa holders can enter China at anytime during this period. Once the holder arrives in China, he will be granted permission for the date of stayindicated in the period of stay. For short-term visitors, this period is 30 days, 60 days, or 90 days.
