On August 6, Consul General Jin Zhijian was invited to attend the opening ceremony of Venerable Master Hsing Yun's One-Stroke Calligraphy 2016 International Touring Exhibition held at Fo Guang Yuan Art Gallery in Christchurch and deliver a speech. The Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple in the South Island also reopened on that day after refurbishment since the great earthquake hit Christchurch. Consul General Jin extended warm congratulation for the holding of the exhibition in Christchurch and the reopening of Fo Guang Shan Buddhist Temple. He said Venerable Master Hsing Yun's One-Stroke Calligraphy combined Buddhism and art perfectly, reflecting the inheritance and carrying forward of Chinese traditional culture. While providing artistic enjoyment, it would also bring about spiritual enlightenment and purification. The conceptions of mercy, wisdom, harmony and tolerance conveyed through the Master's calligraphy have positive implication and will be conducive for tackling new challenges in the contemporary world. He wished the exhibition a great success and expected the exhibition to help friends from all walks of life in the South Island deepen their understanding of Chinese culture.

Distinguished guests from the New Zealand side have extended appreciation for the positive contributions made by the Chinese community and Buddhist groups to serve the local society and promote the multicultural integration in New Zealand through the years. And they also expressed hope for broadening the exchanges in cultural and artistic fields between New Zealand and China in the future.

The touring exhibition will be held in Christchurch for two and half months with calligraphy works, videos, pictures and restored scenes featuring the characteristics of Master Hsing Yun's One-Stroke Calligraphy.
