Consul General Jin Visits Dunedin to Bid Farewell

On 9th and 10th August, Consul General Jin Zhijian visited Dunedin to bid farewell on the occasions of attending activities hosted by the New Zealand side.

Consul General Jin met with Mayor Dave Cull, Deputy Mayor Chirs Staynes, Vice-Chancellor Harlene Hayne and Deputy Vice-Chancellor Helen Nicholson of Otago University, Sir Julian Smith, chairman and managing director of Allied Press and representatives from local business circle, Chinese Community and students. He expressed thanks to people from all circles for their valuable support to the Chinese Consulate General and himself throughout the years, hoping that the bilateral friendly exchanges and cooperation would keep deepening. People from various circles spoke highly of Consul General Jin’s remarkable contributions to promote friendly interactions and pragmatic cooperation between China and South Island, especially Dunedin during his term. They felt regretful for his departure, and promised to continue making efforts to promote China-New Zealand friendship.



During his visit, Consul General Jin delivered speeches on the topics of the Belt and Road Initiative and China-New Zealand economic cooperation respectively at the University of Otago and the Otago Southland Employers Association. He was also interviewed by local media.
