Consul General Wang Zhijian Pays Courtesy Calls on Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade

On 11th October, Consul General Wang Zhijian paid courtesy calls on Deborah Geels, Division Manager of North Asia Division and Michael Swain, Chief of Protocol and Division Manager of the Protocol Division, respectively at Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, and presented his consular credential to Mr. Swain. Political Counsellor Qu Guangzhou from Chinese Embassy in Wellington attended the meetings.

CG Wang spoke positively of the good momentum of bilateral ties during recent years and briefed on the latest development of the interactions between China and South Island. He said he was keenly aware of the glorious mission on himself assuming the post of the third Chinese Consul General in Christchurch during the period of rapid development of bilateral ties. He is ready to maintain close communication and coordination with the New Zealand side and strive to make new breakthroughs in the exchanges and cooperation between China and South Island in various fields so as to substantiate the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership between both countries..

Geels and Swain warmly welcomed CG Wang’s assumption of office. They noted that New Zealand attached great importance to developing relations with China and promoting the local-level interactions. They expected to enhance the coordination and collaboration between both sides and made commitments to provide support and facilitation to the work of the Consulate General as always.
