Our consular district covers the whole South Island of New Zealand. The friendship between China and the South Island can be traced back long when the Chinese gold miners arrived more than 150 years ago. Many of their descendants still work and live here. Currently there are around 50,000 overseas Chinese and students in the South Island. And the old friend of the Chinese People, Rewi Alley's hometown is also in the South Island.,
Since established in 2011, the Chinese Consulate General in Christchurch is committed to providing quality service to all circles of life and promoting friendly exchanges and cooperation between China and the South Island. Thanks to the vigorous development of Sino-New Zealand relationship, the cooperations between China and the South Island keep growing in various fields such as political, economic, sicentific, educational and cultural prospective and maintain a good momentum.
