Message of Consul General Madame He Ying
2022-03-24 04:43

Welcome to the website of the Consulate General of the People's Republic of China in Christchurch.

The year 2022 marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and New Zealand. It is my great pleasure and honor to be appointed, on such a historic occasion, the fourth Chinese Consul General in Christchurch.

The consular district of the Consulate General covers the South Island and the Chatham Islands. This area is renowned for its spectacular beauty, splendid culture and most favorable environment for living and business. Rewi Alley, a great friend of the Chinese people, was born in the town of Springfield, Canterbury. People here have friendly and sincere feelings towards China.

Here we have a large number of Chinese nationals, students and entrepreneurs living, studying and doing businesses across the South Island. It is our duty to provide assistance to my fellow Chinese in our consular district whenever they are in need. My colleagues and I are always ready to do what we can to help them build a better life. We are also committed to writing new chapters of China-New Zealand friendship together with Chinese and New Zealand friends.

Over the past two years, COVID-19 has made lives extremely hard for us and disrupted the people-to-people exchanges. We believe that light will eventually prevail over clouds. We look forward to seeing more Chinese people coming to the South Island and more New Zealand friends going to China after the pandemic.

I will work with my colleagues at the Consulate General and friends from all walks of life in our consular district to make new contributions to the China-New Zealand comprehensive strategic partnership.

I hope to have your support and inspiration.
