Consul General Wang Zhijian Attends Opening Ceremony Of "Rewi Alley In China" Photo Exhibition and Awarding Ceremony of Rewi Alley Essay Competition

On 27 November, the opening ceremony of “Rewi Alley In China” Photo Exhibition and the awarding ceremony of Rewi Alley Essay Competition was held in Christchurch Arts Centre. Consul General Wang Zhijian, NZCFS Christchurch Branch President Chris Goodwin and guests from various circles were invited to attend.

In his remarks Consul General Wang warmly congratulated the opening of the photo exhibition and spoke highly of Alley’s outstanding contributions to the course of China-New Zealand friendship. He noted that the commemorative events help people of both countries to know more about Rewi Alley and to carry forward his spirits. He encouraged the younger generation to follow the pioneers and make their own positive efforts to the development of China-New Zealand relations.

President Goodwin expressed thanks to the Consulate General for the great support to the Rewi Alley commemorative event in South Island, spoke highly of the remarkable progress of China-New Zealand friendly interactions and expected peoples of both countries to deepen mutual understanding and friendship.

Consul General Wang, President Goodwin and former MP Margaret Austin jointly presented awards to the winners of the essay competition.
